AN UNEXPECTED RECOVERY & PEACE OF MIND FROM FRAUD
On Sunday 9th of July my wallet, with some US dollars and Euros and other items, was stolen or lost (probably pickpocketed near Clignancourt markets or on the Metro). I stopped the credit card immediately (within a few minutes) but I was worried because my Driving Licence was in the wallet and it might be used for Identity Theft fraud as it contains my licence number, my name, my address, my signature, my date of birth, and my photo! I was only in Paris for 4 days to see my brother and his girlfriend on holiday from Australia.
When I returned home I got a letter from the Paris Prefecture Lost & Found saying they had recovered my wallet and it still had my Driving Licence in it! How wonderful! I paid 11 Euros + 30 Euros for them to post it back to me in London.
It has not arrived yet (7 days since they posted the letter, but only 4 days since I received it) but I am hopeful it will come soon, so I am very grateful for their wonderful service. I never thought I would see my wallet (a nice Timberland leather one) or my Driving Licence again.
Thank-you Prefecture of Police Lost and Found.
