What Was Lost Has Been Found!
The claim workflow is relatively straight forward. However, the confirmation data emailed to me did not wuite align with what I had entered. For instance, there is no business card on the device which I had lost, but the screensaver, which displays should you turn on the device, is a photo of my screensaver. The confirmation email simply said that there was no business card. Also, the color of my the tablet cover was not available; given that it one of the standard colors for Apple tablets, either it should have been available or there should have been an allowing me to enter a description.
The matching process is pretty awesome. It worked well when a friend lost her mobile phone at security at CDG while transferring last year, and it worked fairly well for me. I write fairly well because the matching process said that mtched device had been found on flight 085. I had arrived on flight 095. Since 085 was a flight from SFO, which was not my originating airport, I was a bit concerned until I ascertained that 085 had not flown in a couple of years. So I chalked this up as a typo. Besides, it is tantamount to impossible to contact the service to address such a questiin.
Over the course of the next couple of days, I watched my device move around the lost and found warehouse. Eventually, it was shipped and soon arrived at my hotel in Paris. I had been tempted to take the Metro to CDG, but it’s an hour each way plus having to find my way from the station to the warehouse (round 35 minutes each way by bus). Plus, you have to book an appointment for picking it up. Shipping was far easier. It just would have been better if packaging (which not include any protective material around my tablet) and shipping had been faster. I have no idea of why it takes two days to do this.
Regardless, I was most appreciative to have gotten my tablet back.
